HUNTING
FLY IN MOOSE HUNTING IN NORTHERN ONTARIO
Northern Ontario offers some of the most rewarding and challenging moose hunting in Canada. Wilderness North gives hunters fly in access to remote boreal forest habitat where large, healthy moose populations thrive with minimal hunting pressure. These locations are quiet, vast, and far from road access, creating a true wilderness experience that is both demanding and deeply memorable.
Whether you hunt with a rifle or a bow, our remote lodges and outpost camps place you directly within prime moose territory at the peak of fall activity.
THE MOOSE HUNTING EXPERIENCE
Moose hunting in northern Ontario is an immersive wilderness adventure. Mornings often begin with cool air, still water, and fog rising across the lake. Hunters travel by boat, canoe, or on foot into calling locations that overlook marshes, ridges, or natural openings. The sound of a bull answering a call or moving through brush is a moment that stays with you long after the trip is over. Hunting is physical and requires patience, awareness, and respect for the animal. It is common to spend long hours listening, glassing, and positioning for the right opportunity. Many hunters describe the experience as peaceful, focused, and deeply connected to the land.
MOOSE HABITAT AND MOVEMENT
Understanding the landscape is an important part of a successful hunt. Our hunting areas typically include:
- Ridges and elevated timber
- Marsh edges and shallow bays
- Beavers ponds and muskeg
- Old burns and natural regrowth
- Quiet creeks and back channels
During the fall season, bulls move between cows, call from timber edges, and travel along natural corridors. We provide local knowledge and insight so you can position yourself effectively.
SELF GUIDED MOOSE HUNTS
All Wilderness North moose hunts are fully self guided. This allows you to move at your own pace, choose your own setups, and experience the hunt as independently as you prefer.
- Maps of the hunting area
- Local knowledge about moose movement
- Information on access routes, corridors, and water trave
- On site support at lodges and outposts
Many hunting groups return year after year for this level of freedom and immersion.
